About Darcy
Darcy Bixby is a senior regional manager with three decades of experience in real estate property management. She entered the field in 1996 as a leasing consultant at an apartment community and has climbed through five to six companies, spending the last 18 years in corporate portfolio oversight roles that have included regional manager, regional director, and regional vice president positions. Now based in Denver, Colorado, after moving from Dallas in August, she brings expertise in supervising on-site teams, client relations, and large-scale operations. Bixby earned her real estate license in Texas and describes her education as the school of hard knocks, having attended college without completing a degree. She remains active in apartment associations, previously serving in leadership capacities with groups in Dallas, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, and Texas. Her approach centers on authenticity as her brand, integrity, servant leadership, and a commitment to mentoring others, especially young women, while encouraging balance and genuine care for people.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My faith and a never-give-up attitude no matter what. Authenticity is my brand, and I've always encouraged people to show up as they are, mentoring others especially young women to balance life and be themselves.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never stop being you. Never forget what you give, never forget your energy. People have always encouraged me to not give up by being myself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Start at the bottom as a leasing agent and learn every role. Genuinely care for people and never lose that care, even when tired. Do a little bit extra than the bare minimum. See people as humans and impact their lives by welcoming them. Always stay humble and keep learning.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Biggest challenge is the all-time high stress level of people, violence, mental illness, and dealing with people on their last leg. Opportunity is influence and impact by mentoring the younger generation, recruiting and pouring into new leaders, especially young women who need better opportunities.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is huge - always do the right thing no matter who's watching, no matter how hard it is. Stay humble, be a servant leader not power hungry. Stand up for what's right and don't be afraid of conflict. What we put out in the world comes back to us.
