Her Story

About Darlene

Darlene Agag owns Hestia Group, a nationwide concierge and relocation services company she started 10 years ago. After spending 20 years at News Corp where she was part of the Hulu founding team and ran a global partnerships team, she left corporate America following a divorce and move from Manhattan to northern New Jersey. She initially launched the business as Suburban Settlers before rebranding it to Hestia Group about 6 or 7 years ago to reflect its growth. The company delivers full-service concierge including relocation for high-profile clients such as NBA, NFL, and MLB players and corporate executives across the country and in Europe and Canada handling everything from moves and travel to day to day home opertaions for their clients. Darlene is a member of Nexus Relocation Group. She also founded the Hestia Collective nonprofit to help single moms, informed by her own experience raising children as a single parent. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in business and fine art from college and attended the New York School of Interior Design.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Darlene

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of perseverance, genuine care for people, and a willingness to do what others won't. Throughout my career, I've believed that trust is earned through consistency, responsiveness, and delivering on promises. Whether leading a Fortune 500 career or building The Hesstia Group from the ground up, I've never been afraid of hard work or solving complex problems. I also believe success comes from building meaningful relationships, treating every client with empathy and respect, and always looking for ways to create an exceptional experience. Most importantly, I've learned that success isn't measured only by business growth, but by the positive impact you have on the lives of the people around you.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was that your reputation is your greatest asset. Talent and experience matter, but your integrity, reliability, and the way you treat others are what people remember. I've carried that lesson throughout my career, and it has influenced every decision I've made. Protecting your reputation by always doing the right thing even when it's difficult creates opportunities that a résumé can’t.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice would be to focus on building a reputation before building a title. In our industry, trust is everything. Be dependable, communicate well, and always follow through on your commitments. Never stop learning, be willing to do the work others overlook, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Most importantly, know your worth. Advocate for yourself with confidence, lead with integrity, and remember that the relationships you build and the way you make people feel will have a lasting impact on your success. Excellence and authenticity will always set you apart.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in our industry is that client expectations continue to rise. People want highly personalized, seamless experiences, often on very short timelines. Meeting those expectations requires not only operational excellence but also strong communication, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to service.

At the same time, that's also our greatest opportunity. As technology and AI automate routine tasks, the human elements of trust, empathy, discretion, and relationship building become even more valuable. Clients can find information anywhere, but they still need trusted advisors who can anticipate challenges, solve complex problems, and provide peace of mind during major life transitions. I believe the future belongs to organizations that successfully combine innovation with exceptional, personalized service.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and my personal life are integrity, compassion, excellence, and service. I believe in doing what I say I'll do, treating people with kindness and respect, and always striving to exceed expectations. Whether I'm supporting a family through a major relocation, mentoring others, or spending time with my own family, I try to lead with empathy and purpose. I also value resilience. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn, grow, and become a better leader. At the end of the day, success isn't just about what you accomplish-it's about the positive impact you have on the people around you.
