About Darsheikes
Darsheikes Sanders has been active in the financial services industry since 2010. She began her career in a bank call center during a recession and progressed through approximately six roles focused on fraud and financial crimes investigations. Her experience includes account takeovers, compliance and due diligence for banking regulations, and global trade finance investigations applying AML regulations to letters of credit and transaction partners. Sanders currently works as a Business Account Specialist at Wells Fargo, where she independently reviews large transactional data sets from money service businesses and payment processors such as NetSpend and PayPal to assess risk, generate SAR narratives, and present findings to wholesale stakeholders. She holds two certifications from ACAMS as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and Financial Crimes Investigator, and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. In a notable achievement, Sanders identified a $306 million risk involving unauthorized trade activity with sanctioned Russian diamond dealers, earning recognition as number six among the top ten SAR producers for the year. She represents Charlotte, North Carolina, in the 2026 Influential Women feature.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Apply like a man. Men often apply under the understanding that they'll train me. Women often feel that you have to be qualified before you apply. You qualify, they'll train you.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't believe the men around you who encourage you to remain focused on what you can do as an individual contributor. Realize what you can do to affect the team as a whole. Your activities can affect your entire enterprise. You can get licensed or work independently as a consultant. Don't believe the men that are going to tell you that this is a boys club and you're not going to be able to make a decision or be in the room with the decision makers. I believe that you can get in that room.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is artificial intelligence. People worry AI will take their job, but in financial crimes a human eye will always be needed. Learn how to use AI to analyze data, create corporate structures, and understand funds flows. Use AI to the best of your ability because it can't take your job since a human eye will always be needed.
