What do you attribute your success to?
My career in hospitality began at the front desk, one of the most fast paced and formative environments in the industry. When I was a bartender, I was naturally gregarious and always asking questions. A young gentleman who often visited in a suit told me he worked in hotel hospitality, and after we became friends, he encouraged me to try working at the front desk. I had no idea what a front desk agent did, but his advice stayed with me: “Give it a try. What is the worst that could happen? You can always come back to bartending.” I took the chance, never looked back, and continued to grow in the role. Over the past eight years, I have progressed from an entry level team member into a director, supported by discipline, resilience, and a deep commitment to exceptional guest service. Working in newly opened five star properties in Palm Beach has taught me the importance of confidence, composure under pressure, and leading with clarity and compassion.
Managing high end guests and complex operations has strengthened my ability to make sound decisions quickly, communicate effectively, and support my team through challenges. These experiences have shaped my leadership style and reinforced my passion for the hospitality field. I believe strongly in continuous learning and have pursued certifications including Six Sigma, a Florida notary license, and fire and life safety credentials to expand my ability to contribute meaningfully to the organizations I serve. Beyond my own development, I am committed to strengthening the Palm Beach hospitality community by fostering stronger connections among professionals and encouraging more open communication across the industry. Collaboration, in my view, remains one of the strongest foundations for long term growth.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Before entering hotel operations, I worked as a bartender in New York City. It was a mentor, someone who saw my potential, who encouraged me to take the risk of moving into hospitality. That single decision changed the course of my career.
I learned early that progress often requires stepping into unfamiliar territory. I made mistakes, learned from them, and kept moving forward. Fitness and cross training have become an important part of how I stay grounded, disciplined, and focused.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to those starting their careers is simple: believe in yourself, embrace discomfort, and stay open to growth. Every challenge has something to teach you if you are willing to learn from it. I follow the philosophy that if someone else can do it, I can do it too, and I encourage others to adopt the same mindset. Strive for excellence, aim to be the best in your field, and never doubt your ability to achieve what you set your mind to.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Hard work is especially important to me, particularly because I am originally from Serbia. I came to the United States right after high school and barely spoke any English. Stepping into leadership required me to trust myself my judgment, my instincts, and my ability to speak up. Over time, I have learned that leadership is not about having all the answers, but about navigating challenges with integrity and confidence.
My volunteer work with the Red Cross and my recent involvement with a local dog ranch have also reinforced the importance of service, empathy, and balance. These experiences remind me that leadership extends far beyond the workplace and is rooted in how we treat others, contribute to our communities, and remain grounded in our values.
