Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dawn
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to my father. My father was my role model. He was never around hardly. He worked all the time to support me and my siblings. I learned all my tools of the trade from my dad. He always told me the more you know honey the less you need a man for. My dad has always been really my driving force. He's been my motivation. My son my strength.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say do it. Just do it. You can do anything you put your mind to. Anything. I've proven the same thing to myself. There were things in life that I never thought that I would be able to take care of or do or accomplish in life and I did. Just do it. Don't be afraid. Don't let fear get in the way of your dreams and your goals.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My biggest challenge is to work with such a variety of people. It's kind of challenging because not everybody should be a business owner. Sometimes it's a little challenging.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Values as in holding yourself to that standard. I'm not going to expect something of someone that I'm not willing to do myself. I set the bar. Be dependable show up be somebody and a person of your word. Your word is your bond that is gold. Be who you say you are and do what you say you're gonna do.
