About Dawn

Dawn DiStefano, DPS is a distinguished business educator, higher education leader, and nonprofit consultant with more than 20 years of experience spanning academia, banking and finance, fundraising, and community development. She currently serves as a tenured full-time Assistant Professor at Molloy University and an adjunct full professor at Nassau Community College, where she teaches business and marketing while mentoring students and contributing to institutional initiatives. Previously, she served as Associate Dean and Director of Undergraduate Business Programs at Molloy University, where she provided academic leadership and supported the growth of business education programs.

Before transitioning fully into academia, Dawn built a strong foundation in banking and finance, earning professional licenses including Series 7 and Series 63 while working in investment and client services roles with organizations such as JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Fidelity Investments. She later expanded her career into nonprofit leadership, serving as Executive Director of the Nassau Community College Foundation and Senior Gift Officer at the American Red Cross Greater New York, where she led fundraising initiatives, developed community partnerships, managed grants, and supported philanthropic programs. Her dedication to service and community impact earned her humanitarian recognition from AHRC of Suffolk.

Dawn holds a Doctor of Professional Studies (DPS) with a concentration in Marketing from Pace University - Lubin School of Business, as well as an MBA from Dowling College and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Hofstra University. Her areas of specialization include business education, marketing, nonprofit fundraising and development, higher education administration, and business operations consulting. Through her consulting work with Invested Generation, she continues to help nonprofits and small organizations achieve sustainable growth through strategic planning, grant writing, and community-centered solutions. Her career reflects a commitment to education, leadership, and creating meaningful social impact.

I attribute my success to hard work, persistence, positive energy, and the determination to embrace challenges and keep pushing forward.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to maintain integrity, stay genuine, and be patient. Authenticity builds trust, and doing the right thing consistently creates lasting success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to believe in themselves and trust their inner voice. With confidence, determination, and the belief that they can achieve anything, they can create their own path to success.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are integrity and authenticity. Staying genuine in how I work and interact with others is what sets me apart and guides both my professional and personal life.
