Her Story

About Dawn

Dawn Gallick serves as Business Development Manager at Shoreline Construction in Kenton, Delaware. With 10 years in the construction industry, she focuses on building business relationships, finding new customers, and identifying new job sites and opportunities. Prior to her current role, Gallick worked in equipment rentals and construction equipment sales at Equipment Chair, spent 2 years at Delmarva Printing, nearly 5 years at United Rentals where she received the Rookie of the Year award for Best New Salesperson, and earlier sold non-magnetic trimmer capacitors worldwide for Dover Technologies and the Knowles Group covering the Northeast, Europe, and California. She attributes her success to being a single parent with no safety net, which drove her to navigate a career change after her previous department was outsourced. Gallick holds a strong commitment to integrity, honesty, work ethic, loyalty, and supporting others. She is the Ambassador Chair at the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, where she was named Volunteer of the Year, serves on the board of Contractors for a Cause, co-founded Eastern Shore Women in Construction to support women in the industry, and volunteers with the American Cancer Society and Salvation Army. She is also a member of the Women's Art League Coalition for the Ocean City Art League. Gallick advises guarding integrity above all and encourages young women in construction by addressing challenges such as imposter syndrome, being taken seriously, and gaining product knowledge through her group.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dawn

01What do you attribute your success to?

Being a single parent and not having anywhere else to fall with no safety net.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Guard your integrity no matter what, it's the most important thing, and once lost, it's never gotten back.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Through the Eastern Shore Women in Construction group we address questions like how to go back to work after giving birth, how to walk on a job site that is 99% male-dominated, and how to find a career path where I can achieve as much as my male counterparts. It's a layered approach developed over time.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

As a woman, overcoming imposter syndrome, making sure you believe you have a place in the industry, being taken seriously as seriously as male counterparts, and having product knowledge as much as male counterparts. It's layered but can be dealt with head on.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, honesty, having a good work ethic, being loyal, and being there for other people who need me.
