Dawn Johnson serves as Event Manager at The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where she specializes in corporate meetings, incentive programs, travel arrangements, and room block management. With extensive experience in luxury hospitality and event operations, Johnson is dedicated to creating seamless, memorable experiences for guests and clients while upholding the exceptional service standards associated with the Waldorf Astoria brand. She has built a successful career through her passion for hospitality, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering outstanding event experiences.
Johnson’s connection to the hospitality industry began at an early age, growing up immersed in the field and learning from her mother, who served as a general manager. This early exposure shaped her appreciation for guest service, leadership, and the importance of creating meaningful connections. Before joining The Roosevelt New Orleans, Johnson spent ten years working with the family-owned Events by Ariane, where she developed her expertise in event planning, coordination, and client relations. She has also earned certifications from the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), including Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP) and Hospitality and Tourism Management, further strengthening her knowledge of the hospitality industry.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my eagerness to continuously grow and learn, my commitment to excellence, and my dedication to giving my best in every opportunity. I believe that building meaningful relationships has been a key part of my professional journey, as strong connections foster trust, collaboration, and success. Additionally, staying organized and maintaining attention to detail have allowed me to effectively manage challenges, deliver quality results, and consistently exceed expectations in my work.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to shoot for the stars because the sky is the limit. This mindset has encouraged me to set ambitious goals, embrace new opportunities, and believe in my ability to achieve more than I may have initially imagined. I have learned that with dedication, confidence, and a willingness to grow, there are endless possibilities for personal and professional success.

My advice to young women entering the hospitality industry is to always remember that hospitality is about people. Focus on building genuine relationships, creating trust, and making every interaction meaningful. It is also important to be prepared and have a backup plan, as every event can bring unexpected challenges. One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in the hospitality industry today is maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
