About Dawn
Dawn Woods brings more than two decades of professional experience to her role at Peace Care, a non-profit faith-based organization in Jersey City, New Jersey. In her current position of two and a half years, she applies her accreditation in public relations and Master of Business Administration from Ashland University to lead strategic planning, vision development, brand management, and strategic partnerships with community providers. She also oversees business development efforts in collaboration with admissions and marketing teams. Prior to relocating to the East Coast, Woods served as head of marketing for divisions of hospital systems and head of sales for a financial services company, both in Cincinnati, Ohio. She earned her bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern University and the University of Cincinnati around 1990. Woods is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and has supported philanthropic efforts including CORE Incorporated, which provides group homes for special needs young adults in Cincinnati. She attributes her success to high parental expectations, a strong support structure, and mentorship from accomplished women in her life.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success partially to high expectations from my parents and a strong support structure, especially good women mentors who have supported me through challenges.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Step up to challenges without fear, be willing to fill in gaps as a true team player, and take risks with courage.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn as much as you can on new projects early on, surround yourself with a support network, map out a path but measure success based on your evolving goals, and get crystal clear on what is really important.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI and technology integration is both a challenge and a big opportunity; staying up-to-date with technology and finding meaningful ways to connect and collaborate with people.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Compassion and empathy, collaboration and partnering with colleagues, and authenticity in honoring personal goals while meeting corporate goals.
