Her Story
About Dea
Ms. Dea Ajdini is an Albanian-American educator and speaker, whose life and work reflect her commitment to faith, human sanctity, and spiritual growth through compassion. Born in Pristina, Kosovo, she experienced war and displacement during her childhood - an experience that has strengthened her desire to explore questions of faith, healing, identity, and ethical responsibility.
Ms. Ajdini serves as Adjunct Faculty at Carthage College, where she teaches courses in the humanities and religious studies, like: Intellectual Foundations and Understandings of Religion. In the classroom, she is passionate about guiding students to wrestle honestly with questions of belief, morality, culture, meaning, and the human condition. Her teaching invites students to think deeply, communicate kindly, and recognize the ways in which religious and philosophical ideas continue to shape their individual lives and the wider world.
She earned a Master of Arts in Religion and Public Life from Emory University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. This distinctive educational path reflects her belief that spiritual well-being cannot be separated from the physical, emotional, and social dimensions of human life. Her developing work brings together religion, spirituality, healing, and human development, with particular interest in how faith alongside meaningful routines can support resilience and overall well-being.
Ms. Ajdini is also a graduate of the Madina Institute’s Usūl al-Dīn program, where she pursued formal studies in Islamic theology and the foundational sciences of the Islamic tradition. She has taught Islamic Studies in Islamic School environments and different Sunday school programs across Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Atlanta, helping students connect the intellectual foundations of Islam with the realities of everyday life. She has also preformed a US tour, delivering lectures for women on spiritual growth, identity, personal development, and the challenges and beauty of living one’s faith in the modern world.
What distinguishes Ms. Ajdini’s work is her ability to bring scholarship, spirituality, and practicality into the same conversation. She approaches faith as a living source of transformation, responsibility, and hope. Whether she is teaching college students, speaking to women in community settings, or mentoring younger learners, her goal is to make profound, ancient ideas understandable, relevant, and personally meaningful.
In addition to her academic, religious, and community work, Ms. Ajdini is publishing Children's Religious books focusing on their emotional well-being and is currently writing The Book of Divine Aphorisms, which is a reflective work exploring the inner dimensions of faith and the search for spiritual clarity in contemporary life. These projects reflects her passion for providing spiritual wisdom to illuminate the human heart.
Guided by a love of learning, a devotion to service, and a sincere concern for the growth of others, Ms. Dea Ajdini continues to build bridges between scholarship and practical faith. Her journey - from displacement in childhood to a life dedicated to education, healing, and spiritual development - stands as a powerful example of how hardship can transform into purpose.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
"The sky is just the beginning"
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
As a young woman, I advise you to really lay out the pros and cons of everything that you want and love, and that is good and beneficial to you. And follow that thing, and try to achieve it before having kids. As much as you can. And, if you do have kids along the way, or before that, just know that Whatever you wanted before, can come later. While you have kids, and while they're small, the goal should only be to be the best mother that you can be, and that is the best thing that you can do in the whole world during that time.
