Ten minutes with DeAnn
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My mom always said, be in service, be a servant leader. I literally have two signs in my office, and one says, work hard, and the other one says, love one another. Always be a servant leader. When you serve others, they're going to serve you. Work hard and love others.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
There are no shortcuts. Young women really need to do the work. Start at the bottom and work their way up. Take on new opportunities and challenging work. Volunteer in that space. It's incredibly rewarding.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Biggest challenge is access to healthcare, making sure children and families have access to care. Greatest opportunity is collaboration within other health systems, like our alignment with Broward Health providing pediatrics care locally.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, integrity, and trust. My life is built around relationships. People do business with people that they like and that they trust. Strong, honest relationships built on mutual respect and trust.
