About DeAnna
DeAnna Martin has been working in accounting education for 26 years. She first started her career as an adjunct professor at Vanguard University after a job coach suggested that teaching accounting would be a good fit based on her enjoyment of training clients on accounting software at her CPA firm. Martin went back to school to earn her MBA degree in 2003 and continued teaching while applying for full-time positions. She is involved with the California Society of CPAs, known as CALCPA, as well as the American Accounting Association and TACTIC, where she serves on committees and is a regular speaker. Martin received the Cook Prize in 2026, awarded to a graduate school educator and sponsored by the American Accounting Association and the Deloitte Foundation, and the previous year she won the Woman to Watch Award, also known as the Trailblazer Award, from the California Society of CPAs for women with over 20 years of experience in accounting.
