About Deanna
I've been in the architecture field for about 5 to 6 years when you include my internships. My first internship was with the AIA in Philadelphia in 2016, which wasn't at a firm but gave me valuable exposure to the industry. The following summer in 2017, I had my first real architecture internship at Northeast Collaborative Architects in DC. After graduating from my four-year undergraduate program in 2018, I did some teaching programs at my college over the summer before working full-time at a firm in DC for about a year. I then went back to grad school for a year and a half and earned my Master's degree from Catholic University in 2021. Since then, I've been working at Stantec in Ardmore for the past two and a half years. I just got my license as a registered architect with Pennsylvania about a month and a half ago, which was a huge goal I'd been focused on for the past three years. Right now, I'm in a transition role where I'm starting to lead projects and teams. I'm currently working on a very large transit facility project in Harrisburg that's going out to construction soon, and I'm leading the effort from the architecture side while coordinating with all our engineers. This is a big milestone in my career because it's the first time I've had significant design input on a building that's actually going to get built. A typical day involves working on architectural drawings, constantly communicating and coordinating with engineers and contractors, answering questions, reviewing products, and problem-solving on complex projects. I really enjoy the challenge and the problem-solving aspect of the work. My strengths include being very creative and artistic, having strong technical skills especially in Revit software, and having compassion for my team members. I've been told I'm a hardworking team player, and I'm passionate about mentoring the next generation through my volunteer work with the ACE Mentoring Program.
