Her Story
About Debbie
My career in claims and risk management has been quite a journey spanning nearly three decades. I started in this field back in 1998 when I was the business manager for World Championship Wrestling, where I handled all their workers' compensation claims. My boss was our in-house attorney, and she needed me to help get the wrestlers back to work, handle all the claims information, and deal with our insurance company. I was kind of thrown into it and learned from there. After three years with WCW, I moved to San Antonio from Atlanta in 2002 to work for the San Antonio Spurs and Spurs Sports and Entertainment. I spent 10 years with them, helping open their arena and managing their guest services department as well as the staffing levels for every event in that building. I trained all of our staff, became a TABC trainer myself, and was part of the Toastmasters group for about 6 of those 10 years. Since July 2025, I've been the Claims Administrator at Facility Solutions Group, where I handle all insurance claims and any situations that are in litigation for our company. I work with 44 divisions across the U.S., dealing with injuries on the job, car accidents, and any work-related incidents. If a subcontractor does something incorrectly on a job we hired them to do, I'm the one who has to get all the information together, work with our legal consultant, and make sure we have everything our attorney needs to defend us or get us out of the situation. I'm a huge people person and I love working with people. I'm usually at work between 5 and 5:30 every morning, and I'm lucky if I can leave by 4, but it's truly about being dedicated and loving what you do.

Ten minutes with Debbie
01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, hard work and dedication. I totally get that from my parents. I mean, I'm usually at work between 5 and 5:30 every morning, and I am lucky if I can leave out by 4. But it's just truly being dedicated and loving what you do. That is, to me, one of the most important things. I know that you've heard the saying before, but if you love what you do, it's really not a job. I do love all of the people that I work with. I love our guys out on the field, and so I'm passionate about what I do. Because, you know, at any point in time, if I ever have to walk away from this position, I want someone to be able to walk right in and take it from there.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is to strive to be the best that you can and understand that you can only do what you can do, but as long as you're doing the best that you can, you can wake up and look in the mirror every day knowing that you are doing everything that you can do.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Being that I've really been in what most people would consider a man's world forever, in every job really that I've had, it truly is work hard and never stop learning. I take classes all the time, any online, anything free. It's do as much as you can to get as much knowledge as you can, so that you make yourself needed and never irrelevant.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think it's not having control over the situations. You can't control someone getting hurt at work. You can't control someone getting in a car accident. So, I'm having to deal with the after-effects. So there are times where that is difficult for me personally, just because I know that our safety team's out there doing what they need to do and trying to get across all the information, but not being able to control those environments is a struggle for me.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being truthful, honest, having ethics, and doing the right thing are huge for me. Those are values I share with my children. You know, at the end of the day, I still feel like as long as you're doing the right thing, you will be okay.
