She works closely with nonprofit planners to design events that boost ticket sales, secure sponsorships, and create memorable donor experiences.

Her background in teaching instilled a lifelong dedication to mentorship, communication, and building relationships—skills she now applies to guiding nonprofits in raising critical funds for their causes. Debbie emphasizes early event planning, strategic fundraising, and compassionate collaboration, believing that every successful auction is built on preparation and a clear understanding of the organization’s mission.

Debbie holds a degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Northern Iowa and a coaching certificate, which laid the foundation for her career in mentoring, leading, and motivating others. Recognized for her leadership and impact, she was selected as one of Influential Women representing Charlotte, North Carolina, for 2026. Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to dedication, learning from both failures and successes, and staying fully engaged in the field, all guided by compassion and a commitment to supporting the missions and people I serve.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never get in my own way—stay open to new ideas, trust the process, and allow opportunities to unfold instead of holding myself back.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don’t be scared to knock on doors and don’t ever take “no” as an answer—persistence, confidence, and belief in your mission will open the right opportunities.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in fundraising today is educating organizations on the importance of early event timelines, because starting fundraising at the beginning of an event significantly increases engagement and overall results.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Compassion is the value that guides both my work and personal life—showing care for the people I work with, staying true to the mission, and following what my soul tells me to do, which for me is working with and helping others.
