Her Interview
Ten minutes with Debbie
01What do you attribute your success to?
My determination, for sure. Especially since I self-taught everything in IT after coming from retail and sales, and I'm not from the generation that grew up with computers.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Listening, and not reacting. If you listen and you don't react to things immediately, you get a better handle on things, and you can come to a better conclusion.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I am a big believer in listening and treating every person equally. Even from a customer standpoint, if I talk to the receptionist, I treat the receptionist like I would treat the CEO, the same way.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
From an IT standpoint, we're running into AI on a daily basis. It's a double-edged sword, trying to wrap our heads around AI and what it's good for, what it's not good for, and really consulting our customers on how to use it properly. It's just being a better consultant because people don't know what to do with it.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would definitely say integrity, and being true to myself, and definitely family.
