Her Story

About Debbie

I spent 20 years as an x-ray tech, eventually running an orthopedic practice. In 2013, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and told I'd be in a wheelchair in 5 years if I didn't go on medication. Having x-rayed women with this condition year after year, I knew what that future looked like, and I decided to explore alternatives. I researched what the top countries were doing for chronic care and discovered functional medicine, which focuses on finding root causes instead of just suppressing symptoms. I went through that exploration, found out why my body was attacking itself, and adjusted my lifestyle to address those reasons. It was the biggest blessing of my life. I left my career, became a board-certified health and wellness coach, and continued building credentials in emotional eating psychology and hormone health. Now I have an incredible practice where I help women experience miraculous changes in their health. My day involves marketing, seeing clients for hour-long sessions with detailed follow-ups, networking and collaboration with other women, and constant learning because studying health and how the mind works is my passion. I'm 59 years old, and I live very intentionally now. Every morning I get up between 4:40 and 5:30 for a minimum of 2 hours in meditation and grounding, making sure I align with my purpose for each day. I call it connecting with the Inner Empire Alchemist who sits on the throne, and she makes the decisions, not my old versions of myself.

Ten minutes with Debbie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I listen to what some people call their gut, but I call my SGS spiritual guidance system. I know what I'm supposed to do, I know what the next step is, and I've got the bravery to do it. That's my success. Even when it feels scary and I'm way out of my comfort zone, even when it's not at all what I want to do, I know what that gut feeling is, I know what that call is, and I take the step regardless of what it is. And that's why I'm successful.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Listen to other people's opinions and then filter. Get quiet and listen, because the answers are within her. They might be veiled because of the old stories, old beliefs, and the toxic worrying what 'they,' whoever they are, says. Get quiet. There is an inner empire alchemist within you that knows the answers. Listen to her. Find her. Do whatever you have to do to find her. Get quiet. Learn. Get mentors that know, that work from that space. That's what I would tell them.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My number one value is purpose. I know what I'm here to do. When I was a little girl, I knew it. I didn't know what it was called, but I knew it. That's number one for me: my purpose. Why am I here? What am I here to do? I want to live my biggest life.
