Her Story
About Debora
Debora Probst dedicated more than 30 years to the field of histology after transitioning from a role in pharmacy where she mixed IV fluid bags for chemo patients. She found her passion in helping diagnose diseases through tissue processing and enjoyed the variety of bench work that included embedding, cutting, staining, grossing, and performing autopsies. Even as a supervisor, she remained hands-on and brought in students from Darden College in Albany for clinical training at her facility. Debora values honesty and integrity above all and advises others to practice patience and listening while encouraging young women to keep striving and pushing themselves without letting others define their limits. Her educational background came primarily from on-the-job training and the School of Hard Knocks, supported by a strong mentor.
