Deborah Antonuzzo-Hebert
Deborah Antonuzzo-Hebert is a seasoned Customer Relations and Sales professional with over 20 years of experience in customer service, sales, and operations. She is currently with Metal Industries, Inc., where she specializes in supporting clients across the aerospace, fuel cell, and beverage industries. In her role, she focuses on ensuring customers’ equipment and production lines remain fully operational, often working closely with plant teams and, when needed, walking facilities to gain firsthand insight into what is running smoothly and where support is needed. Her expertise lies in maintaining strong customer relationships while delivering dependable, responsive solutions in fast-paced industrial environments. Her professional journey began after graduating high school and spending many years in retail, where she built a strong foundation in customer service and sales. As her career evolved, she transitioned into a more structured 8-to-5 environment to better support her young family and moved into the sales field. In one of her early roles, she was the sole employee and successfully growing their sales. This experience strengthened her ability to build business from the ground up, shifting from inbound retail sales to proactively identifying opportunities, reaching decision-makers, and developing long-term client relationships. Deborah’s greatest strength is her relationship-driven approach to business. Many of her customers have remained loyal for years, and when she transitioned into her current role approximately five years ago, her entire customer base followed her. She takes pride in truly knowing her clients on a personal level, maintaining ongoing connections, and even remembering important milestones such as birthdays for both customers and their families. Much of her technical skill set, including QuickBooks, Excel, Word, and other business tools, is self-taught through hands-on experience and independent learning. Her success is built on trust, consistency, and a commitment to treating every customer relationship with care, respect, and long-term dedication.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work, dedication, and drive. I’ve learned not to get stuck where I am, but to always look for ways to grow. There is always something you can improve on — whether it’s your education, your career, or your personal life. There’s always another goal to reach and something new to build toward.
Earlier in my career, I was a “worker bee.” I felt like I constantly had to achieve goals and get things done in order to feel appreciated. But four years ago, when my mom was diagnosed with dementia, my boss helped shift my perspective on what truly matters.
He told me to cherish the little moments before the big moments are forgotten — to enjoy them and hold onto them. That advice made me realize it was okay to slow down, hold my mom’s hand, and simply sit with her. It taught me that work-life balance is not only possible, but necessary.
One of my biggest takeaways is understanding that you can have both work and family, and it’s okay to prioritize both.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was learning that there’s more to life than just work. My boss, who comes from a strong Italian family background, really emphasized the importance of balance. He would say, “Work is important — it helps sustain you — but don’t forget that your family exists too.”
He helped me realize that life cannot revolve entirely around work. For a long time, I was a “worker bee.” I felt like I constantly had to accomplish goals and stay productive in order to feel appreciated. But four years ago, when my mom was diagnosed with dementia, he became one of my biggest supporters. He told me, “Deb, you have to take the little moments before the big moments are forgotten. Enjoy them and hold onto them.” That advice completely changed my perspective. It made me realize it was okay to slow down, hold my mom’s hand, and simply sit with her.
He really opened my eyes to the importance of work-life balance. You can have both a successful career and meaningful family time — and it’s okay to prioritize both.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Build relationships, not just transactions. The best salespeople focus on trust and long-term connections rather than simply closing deals.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
“One of the biggest challenges in both the aerospace and fuel cell industries is balancing technical expertise with relationship-building. These are highly specialized industries with long sales cycles, strict regulations, and constantly evolving technology. In fuel cells specifically, there’s also the challenge of educating customers and overcoming resistance to newer energy solutions. Success comes from being adaptable, knowledgeable, and focused on building long-term trust.”
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Work-life balance is incredibly important to me. I've learned that it's okay to want to support your family and be there with them. A lot of end-life stuff has made me realize that it's important to enjoy those little moments of life, either with your family or with your customers. It's okay to understand them and be one with them. I'm a big farmer - I have an orchard in our backyard where we have apple trees, peach trees, plum and cherry trees, and I also have a greenhouse where I plant sweet potatoes and potatoes. I really like the gardening and getting my hands dirty. It kind of balances me out, sends me to the point where the frustration level ends up balancing and it gives me that peace moment. Family values are also critical - I've been lucky enough to have a boss who understands family values, which has allowed me to balance taking care of my mom on hospice while working full-time remotely.
