Her Interview
Ten minutes with Deborah
01What do you attribute your success to?
My work ethic and drive have pushed me along. I like to work and enjoy accomplishing things, even when things don't look good. I had a very strong mother who was a single mother, a teacher who became a principal, who showed me that working hard will get you where you need to go and bringing people along and coaching others is important.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The jungle gym versus the ladder advice from Google. Getting a board of directors for my career, financial health, and physical health has been important. Having a one-on-one career coach helps clarify what's going on in my own head.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be curious and learn something new. Don't be afraid to suck at something new. You don't need to be perfect at everything. Go for that job or new role even if you don't have all the expertise yet, because you'll get there.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Navigating Apple's app tracking transparency and privacy guidelines. Having to find a privacy-safe way to do app measurement while competitors may not be as compliant. The challenge of pivoting when the industry changes and innovating to continue delivering value.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Ensuring that others get credit for the work that they do and that I get credit for the work that I do. Being a leader that brings people along, brings people up, and shines a light where it is due.
