About Deborah
Deborah DavisSmith has dedicated 29 years to the field of education. She earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood education in 1987 and began teaching in 1998. She taught grades first through second for the entirety of her classroom career. In 2000, she received her master's degree in teaching and leadership, followed by a master's in administrative studies in 2006 along with her Type 75 credential. Currently in her second year as assistant principal at the school where she spent most of her career, Deborah supports students, staff, and families through morning arrivals, student success team meetings, discipline interventions, recess and lunch supervision, and dismissal procedures. She is an active member of the Early Childhood Educational Foundation, the Illinois Principal Association, the Chicago Principal and Administrators Association (CPPA), and the principal's union.
