Her Interview

Ten minutes with Deborah

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my strong faith, my and having a very determined mindset to not give up. Additionally my mother’s unfailing devotion to see her children succeed and determination have been a contributing factor. She taught me to depend on God and believe in myself. After my father’s passed in 2006, she never gave up and put two kids through college. She led a ministry and never looked back. She’s taught me unfailing discipline, faith and mercy. She’s taught to be merciful in middle of injustice. But most of all to believe in God and myself.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

To keep going, not give up, and to keep my chin up.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never compromise your morals and values. And don't give up, regardless of who comes at you. People will come at you from all sorts of walks of life thinking they know more than you. But you should know yourself. And if you have faith in yourself and faith in God, you can achieve anything.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I don't see them as challenges, honestly. I see them as opportunities to grow, to really know your strengths and abilities. Because if you know yourself, you're able to overcome any challenge.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, organization, and communication.
