Her Interview
Ten minutes with Deborah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work and simply committing to show up every single day. Early in my career, my first VP taught me an important lesson: never drink at a work event, and just get out of bed and show up. When you do that consistently, you start to realize you are exactly where you're meant to be.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I've received is to trust that everything is going to be okay. You will find your place and your way in time, and whatever challenge you're facing, this too shall pass.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them to show up every day and come prepared. Stay organized, keep a territory binder, and know your plan. Be open to sharing your life with the people you work with, and take the time to remember the details about them. Building genuine relationships across every level of the office team makes all the difference.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges I see are navigating managed care, Medicare and Medicaid requirements, prior authorizations, and the overall cost burden patients face. On the opportunity side, I've found that the real key to success is collaborating with partners and leaning on the support system around you to solve these obstacles together.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, honesty, and self-awareness matter most to me. I try to treat people the way I want to be treated, always leading with respect and grace.
