About Deborah
Deborah Greene has spent 25 to 30 years working in the arts, culture, and creative industry. She earned an undergraduate degree in art history and theater and received professional training at Circle in the Square in New York. Greene created nonprofits in Los Angeles at LACMA and the Getty and ran an equity theater company focused on environmental art that was named LA Pick of the Week for five years running. She also ran a Shakespeare probation program in the jails for years. Most recently, Greene served as Executive Director of the Woodstock Town Hall Theater, the oldest arts council in Vermont, where she led efforts to refurbish the 400-seat venue, reopen historic windows blocked for 65 years, and expand community programs including summer music by the river and children's programs. She holds a master's degree in Global Diversity Governance from Coventry University and is currently producing a documentary titled Our State of Peace in America, based on 800 interviews conducted across 42 states in 2016 with plans to revisit them on the country's 250th anniversary. Greene is a Rotary member and founded TEDxWoodstock.
