Her Story

About Deborah

Deborah Kiamanesh has been working in medical aesthetics since 1999. After earning her bachelor's degrees in Asian Studies and Art History from San Jose State, she pivoted from a tech career at Hitachi following the dot-com bust and obtained her esthetician license through training at the School of Aesthetics in San Francisco. She served as lead esthetician at California Skin Institute and worked for 13 years at Berman Skin Institute, where she developed expertise in pigmentation treatments for patients unable to undergo laser procedures. Deborah creates custom chemical peels using acids such as kojic and TCA, and she emphasizes overall skin maintenance, internal health factors, and patient education. She is passionate about helping individuals achieve healthy skin results rather than focusing on sales, and she offers consulting services through her business Skin Health Life at skinhealthlife.com. In addition to her professional work, Deborah volunteers at her child's school and maintains an active lifestyle as a former dance instructor.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Deborah

01What do you attribute your success to?

My passion for skincare and helping people brings me joy. I focus on seeing patients happy with their skin health results rather than business or sales.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't be so impressed by the way you feel about a certain job. Go with your gut and intuition. If a job doesn't feel right, get out and move on because there's always something around the corner.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Get as much training as you can and explore all different options. Reach out to people who have been in the industry and are willing to share their knowledge because I am a total open book.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is the overwhelming number of options like different resurfacing and medical devices. You have to research and figure out what is best for each individual patient.
