Her Interview
Ten minutes with Deborah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God and being a believer, my family, and never giving up on things that are important to the community and society. I started my preschool because quality childcare was a dire need, not just for me.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do whatever you're passionate about. Money is a factor but you can make all the money in the world and if you're not passionate about the job, you're still not going to enjoy it every day.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is funding. Opportunities are limited now compared to earlier in my career; you have to know the right people to get ahead.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In work, doing everything I can to help kids succeed and be successful. In personal life, family is the biggest thing for me.
