About Deborah
Deborah is an accomplished audit and financial reporting leader with more than two decades of experience spanning public accounting, insurance, and corporate financial management. She currently serves as a Director at Forvis Mazars US, following leadership roles at FORVIS (formerly Dixon Hughes Goodman), Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, and BDO USA, LLP.
Throughout her public accounting career, Deborah has led audit engagements under both AICPA and PCAOB standards and served as a trusted liaison between engagement teams and clients. Her technical expertise includes U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles, with extensive experience serving insurance and reinsurance entities, professional employer organizations (PEOs), and specialty finance companies. She also brings significant expertise in the accounting and financial reporting considerations associated with business combinations.
In addition to her client service responsibilities, Deborah has contributed to the development of accounting professionals through technical education and mentorship. She has authored and presented firm-wide training on accounting, financial reporting, and auditing matters affecting the insurance sector and has served as a mentor to managers and staff throughout her career.
Prior to returning to public accounting, Deborah served as vice president and controller of a property and casualty insurance company and served as a member of the board of directors and assistant vice president and controller at a health insurance carrier, where she oversaw financial functions including statutory and GAAP reporting, general accounting, treasury operations, and investment portfolio activities. During her tenure, she led initiatives to enhance financial reporting, strengthen budget coordination, and implement system improvements.
Deborah's career reflects a sustained commitment to audit quality, technical excellence, regulatory compliance, client service, and the development of the next generation of accounting professionals.
