What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to invest in the growth of others. One of my proudest achievements was receiving the Teacher of the Year Award, and later mentoring other teachers and administrators to help them grow into leadership positions. Watching those I’ve supported succeed and thrive has been incredibly rewarding and continues to inspire me in my work.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the education field is to take care of yourself first—self-care isn’t selfish. Build a strong network of supportive peers who can offer guidance and encouragement, and never stop learning. The best educators are those who continue to grow alongside their students, embracing new challenges and opportunities for development throughout their careers.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities—and challenges—in education today is integrating AI effectively and responsibly. I have incorporated AI tools into both my teaching and consulting, helping students learn how to use them responsibly by verifying sources, managing screen time, and maintaining academic integrity. The key is finding the right balance between embracing innovation and fostering responsibility, ensuring that technology enhances learning without compromising ethical standards.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, dependability, and compassion. I believe in showing up for people, doing what’s right even when it’s difficult, and leading by example with patience and faith. These principles guide my interactions with students, educators, and colleagues, and help me create environments where learning, trust, and growth can thrive.
