Debra Garner is a seasoned financial services and insurance professional with nearly three decades of experience supporting individuals, families, and military communities. Her career began in Alaska, where she worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a collector, specializing in tax cases involving commercial fishermen whose filing requirements differ from those of most taxpayers. She later worked alongside a psychiatrist conducting interviews with soldiers who were receiving treatment for medication dependency issues. These early roles strengthened her ability to navigate complex financial and personal situations, laying the foundation for a long and impactful career in financial and insurance services.

Debra later transitioned into the financial sector, working with military pay operations and serving in the banking industry as a title clerk for a credit union while also selling used cars to military personnel. Her journey into life insurance began in the 1980s when she connected with a representative from Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company. After successfully completing her licensing exam at Fort Hood, Texas, she began selling life insurance and investment products to active-duty soldiers and retired federal workers. When she later transferred to Germany, she continued serving retirees, active-duty military personnel, and civilians. Debra retired from Boston Mutual in 2007 after being diagnosed with breast cancer, concluding a distinguished chapter of service helping clients protect their financial futures.

Now retired from full-time insurance work, Debra continues to stay active professionally by providing consultation and advisory services in life insurance and real estate. She also works as an Independent Distributor with It Works! and serves part-time as an Assistant Manager at Cato Corporation, where she enjoys helping customers reach their health, beauty, and lifestyle goals. Debra earned a Bachelor of Science in Hospital Administration with a focus in Human Resources Management and Services from Southern New Hampshire University. Inspired by her own experience with cancer, she hopes to dedicate the next chapter of her life to working with children battling cancer, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I contribute everything that I do to God. When I was young, I almost died three times, and my mother told me she almost lost me three times. But then I found out that I was blessed by God and that God had a calling on my life. I just had to find out what it was. My faith has been the foundation of everything I have accomplished. Even when I faced cancer twice - once in my ear which required brain surgery, and breast cancer - I knew that God was protecting me and guiding me. I have had multiple experiences with angels watching over me and protecting me from danger. When I was in Germany and didn't wake up after surgery, someone touched my foot and I heard the door slam shut. The nurse told me they had been praying for me because if I hadn't woken up, my body would have gotten an infection and they would have lost me. She said it wasn't nobody but an angel or Jesus, and that sealed my faith right there. Everything I do, every success I have had, comes from my faith in God and knowing that He has a plan for my life.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Both professionally and personally, the most important value to me is letting people know that Jesus and everything in the Bible do exist and that it is for real. What you read in that book is for real - you just have to get with somebody for understanding what it is. Heaven and hell are for real, and it is about time people wake up and realize that before it is too late. I want people to understand that faith is real and that God's presence is real in our lives. Through my own experiences with cancer, near-death situations, and encounters with angels, I have seen firsthand how real God's protection and love are. My mission is to share this truth with others and help them understand the reality of faith before it is too late.
