Her Story
About Debra
I've been performing stand-up comedy for over 30 years, traveling all over the country and internationally, performing at clubs, colleges, festivals, and on Army tours. After having children, I slowed down for obvious reasons, but I still do it and enjoy it quite a bit. Now I do a lot more churches and professional organizations. I've also been in ministry for over 20 years, serving as a preacher, evangelist, and teacher. I'm affiliated with Kingdom Covenant Church in Greensboro, North Carolina, where I help with praise and worship music, preside over Sunday services, teach Bible study during the week, assist the senior pastors in whatever way is needed, pray for people, and handle administrative tasks for the ministry. For the past 6 years, I've been working in clinical research, where I just got a promotion to Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. A typical day involves meeting with various patients in clinical studies and walking them through different patient visits where I collect vital signs information, do EKGs, draw blood, and process lab samples. I also talk with people who are interested in joining a clinical study, giving them all of the inclusion and exclusion criteria to see if they meet eligibility, and walking them through the steps of the study and what it would look like long-term to see if that's something that they really want to be involved in.
