About Debra
Debra Walker brings more than 35 years of experience in business marketing and sales to her work as an executive coach, mentor, and leader. She authored the Amazon bestseller Gotta Get the Grata, a book that explores breaking down societal norms, improving communication styles, addressing root causes that hold women back, and leveraging EQ and RQ skills for professional growth. Walker customizes speaking engagements for various groups and leads a Women Lean In Circle mastermind. As an entrepreneur, she holds 24 patents and works with startups, particularly supporting women and women of color in underserved communities. She is also developing additional books, including one adapted for the neurodivergent community, drawing from her personal experiences as a mother of five children, one of whom is on the spectrum. Walker attributes her success and holistic approach to life to the influence of her mother, who holds a PhD and two master's degrees in gerontology and healthy living, and who modeled hard work, education, volunteering, and giving back.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I have a mother who has a PhD and two master's degrees, and specializes in gerontology and healthy living, and she is the wind beneath my wings. She is my hero and my mentor and my forever confidant. I learned from her early to work hard, to be gracious and give back. All her life, she volunteered, whether it be at the church, with Girl Scouts, she was a CASA, she was the parish nurse. She was a nurse, and an educator, and just the value and importance of education and giving back to me. It's really a holistic approach to life. She took care of her body, her mind with education and her soul by giving back, and if you can do those three things, and I learned that from her.
