Her Story

About Deepa

Deepa Shivnani brings 18 years of total IT experience, including 5 years specializing at the Public Utility District of Snohomish County. She began her career as a software engineer in India, later relocating to the U.S. and adapting to cloud technologies and advanced metering infrastructure.

Deeps holds an engineering and IT systems degree, a PGDM, and is participating in the Society of Information Management Leadership Training. Grounded in a philosophy of leading with humanity, she has dedicated over a decade to community events and empowering women—including four years volunteering as a parent-school liaison with WABS. Earned her the Social Impact Award from SWECHA and City of Bothell.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to curiosity, compassion, and accountability. I strive to solve meaningful problems, keep learning, and lift others along the way.

I’m also grateful for the mentors and leaders who’ve helped shape my journey.


02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

A title doesn’t define a leader, how you support and inspire people does. Lead with humanity, and success will follow

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be brave, stay compassionate, and never stop learning. Your courage, character, and curiosity will open more doors than you expect.


04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is balancing rapid innovation with human connection. The pace of change requires us to continuously learn, adapt, and rethink how we work. But within that challenge lies a huge opportunity,to focus our energy on meaningful solutions, collaborate, and use technology to make a positive impact.


05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I believe the foundation of success is good intent. When our actions are guided by a genuine purpose to create value and positive impact, we can achieve meaningful results while building trust and strong relationships.
