Her Story

About Deisy

Deisy Brennan is an Architectural Manager at Dream Finders Homes, where she leads architectural operations and design coordination for residential communities across Florida. With approximately 12–13 years of experience in architecture, residential design, and construction, she has developed a strong background in transforming concepts into coordinated, buildable homes. Her career began in New York as a CAD Drafter and Architectural Drafter, progressing through roles involving architectural design, construction documentation, project coordination, and operational support before advancing into management.

In her current role, Deisy oversees multiple aspects of the residential architectural process, including design development, permitting coordination, construction documentation, consultant relationships, budget management, architectural standards, and quality control. She works closely with land development, engineering, purchasing, sales, marketing, operations, and construction teams to ensure projects move efficiently from initial planning through construction. Her expertise also includes Florida Building Code compliance, process improvement, residential product development, and incorporating emerging housing trends such as multigenerational home designs that respond to the changing needs of modern families.

Throughout her career, Deisy has been particularly proud of finding her voice and establishing herself as a respected professional in a traditionally male-dominated industry. She is passionate about developing efficient systems, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing processes that reduce costs, minimize risk, and strengthen project outcomes. Her professional goals include continuing to grow as an architectural leader and pursuing the credentials necessary to become a registered architect in both Florida and New York, while contributing to the future of residential architecture through thoughtful design, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Deisy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to persistence, confidence, adaptability, continuous learning, and strong mentorship. Working in a traditionally male-dominated industry has taught me to trust my knowledge and experience and make my voice heard. I am also process-oriented and always look for opportunities to improve operations, find more efficient solutions, and make meaningful contributions to my projects and organization.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received came through mentorship. Joseph Gabriel gave me an important early opportunity in architecture and taught me the value of believing in my capabilities. Another mentor helped me build confidence in leadership, processes, presentations, management, and communication. Their guidance taught me to trust my expertise, express my ideas with confidence, and continue growing professionally.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering architecture and construction is to build confidence, know your work, and never be afraid to make your voice heard. In a male-dominated industry, confidence comes from knowledge, preparation, experience, and strong mentorship. Recognize the value of your perspective, keep learning, ask questions, and advocate for ideas that can strengthen your projects and organization.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in residential construction right now include material shortages, labor pressures, rising costs, and housing affordability. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunities in technology, energy efficiency, and innovative construction methods such as 3D printing, which could make homebuilding faster, more efficient, sustainable, and affordable in the future.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are family, perseverance, confidence, creativity, collaboration, professional growth, and continuous improvement. I believe in speaking up when I see opportunities to improve processes, solve problems, and create better outcomes, while working collaboratively with others. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, working out, and drawing homes, which allows me to stay connected to my passion for architecture and design.
