Her Interview
Ten minutes with Delaney
01What do you attribute your success to?
My dad always used to tell me to do what I'm good at, and it'll allow me to do whatever I want. When I realized I had skills in logistics, it became fun. What you're good at, you can build off of, and then it does allow you the time, the freedom to do whatever you want. It becomes a lot more fun when you find something that you're good at.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My dad always used to tell me to do what I'm good at, and it'll allow me to do whatever I want. When I realized I had skills in logistics, it became fun. What you're good at, you can build off of, and then it does allow you the time, the freedom to do whatever you want.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't give up, and there's a unique set of skills that any female who's looking to enter a male-dominated industry has. As long as you have an eagerness to learn and you want to grow, you have a unique set of skills that they may not even have awareness that they need yet. Allowing yourself to grow into that will help you tenfold.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
It's an always-growing market. We just had a company merger at Worldwide Express becoming ShipStation Global. Some challenges are that everything's always changing, carriers make new rules every quarter. Being able to be an account manager that is client-facing while working up in the company has been challenging but rewarding.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Visibility at work with customers, team, and leadership. Being able to delegate and have resources at work and at home to avoid burnout. The art of delegation has been a valuable personal and professional skill.
