Her Story
About Delisa
Delisa Perry is a writer and creator who enjoys creating clothing, art, and written works. She holds a college degree in fashion and retail management and a certification in Stephen's Ministry, which equips her to care for others facing mental and emotional difficulties. Her career path includes early leadership in youth ministry as a director at a young age, retail sales and leadership, followed by full-time vocational ministry roles alongside her husband, where she led in areas such as prayer. She recently transitioned from full-time ministry to focus on homeschooling her four children while resuming creative work, including sewing and making clothing that she had set aside. She authored the 30-day postpartum devotional Sustained by His Grace, drawing from her own experiences with motherhood and postpartum depression, and is currently working on a series of fictional romance novels. Perry attributes her success and resilience through personal challenges to her faith in God. She is actively involved in causes supporting unwed and expectant mothers through Embrace Grace and local pregnancy centers. She is also passionate about seeing human trafficking end through her volunteering with organizations such as the A21 Campaign.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Delisa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I have to attribute everything that I am to God. Trust in God even through motherhood and struggles with postpartum depression pulled me out. My faith is what kept me going through difficult circumstances like my parents' divorce and other challenges in life. There is no other person or thing I can attribute to still being here and becoming who I am today.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be bold and courageous in who you believe you are. Don't lose sight of who you are or allow others to demean you or dim your light. Love yourself well so you can love others well, like putting on your oxygen mask first. Remain focused, trust God in the process, and know that mistakes and failures help make you a stronger woman.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is being overly critical of yourself during the creative process, wondering if people will like your work or if you are good enough. Motherhood adds another layer of self-doubt about whether you are doing a great job with your children.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Staying grounded and having a moral compass. Being honest even in the hard truths. Love is a big one - focusing on how I can love others rather than just myself.
