Her Story
About Demetra
I worked in finance in corporate America for years, and I was always that person who wanted to understand people's goals and be able to connect them to the overall mission and vision for the team or department. Through that work, my leadership began to notice that the people I was working with and helping to onboard stayed longer. One day, a colleague put a note on my desk suggesting I should consider coaching. I had no idea what that was at the time. I took the initiative to do some research based on the information she provided, and here I am, 17 years later, doing the thing that I love so much. My coworkers saw something in me that I didn't even know existed. In my coaching business today, my main area of expertise is communication. My responsibilities include offering workshop facilitation, being a panelist both virtually and in person, conducting coaching sessions, and managing all the administrative tasks as the liaison between organizations and my team. I spend most of my days on Zoom engaging with clients when I'm not on site. I teach for coach training programs, and after 17 years, I still find joy in what I do and remain a student of my craft.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think for me, it's always being open to learning. Because you may be perfect and the best in your craft today, but I guarantee you something will change overnight. Things will be different, so for me, I think it's always been about being open and continuing to learn.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
For me to understand that failure is an experience, not a person.
