Her Story
About Dena
I have been in the field for 31 years since graduating with my MSW from Boston College in 1995. I specialize in dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral approaches, and I am also psychoanalytically trained. I transitioned from solo practice to building a collaborative group practice in Midtown Manhattan where we train Columbia graduate students and treat personality disorders, trauma, depression, and other complex issues using evidence-based methods.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dena
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from the ability to collaborate with other skilled professionals who work autonomously. Building a team where we can consult closely without extra steps allows us to provide the best care.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I received is 'never worry alone.' In this field dealing with suicidal clients and heavy emotional work, it's critical to reach out to colleagues rather than sitting with concerns by yourself.
