Her Story

About Denise

I am a credit manager for an electrical supply company with 30+ years of experience in the credit industry, dating back to the early 1990s. My expertise is in credit and collections field. I've spent the last 7 years in my current position and before that, I worked for 10 years as a credit manager at a competitor in the electrical supply industry. Prior to being in the electrical supplier field, I spent 17 years working for an appliance distributor to builders in the Austin market as their bookkeeper/credit manager, handling pretty much everything needed for a small business.

In March 2017 I was nominated and awarded Credit Executive of the Year for NACM from 100+ peers. Also, I just recently in March 2026 was recognized as one of the top 10 women in construction for 2026 by Sunray Construction, an organization out of Florida.

My main area of expertise is credit and collections. I handle internal account setups, review of credit applications, extending credit, and working on collecting past due balances. Part of my month is dedicated to preparing mechanics lien intent letters, which are done via the property code in the State of Texas and serve as our tool for collecting on past due balances on jobs that are slow paying. The first two weeks of the month we prepare the letters to mail, and the last two weeks of the month is mainly catch-up on paperwork and collection time.

Ten minutes with Denise

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would probably say having good support staff and having people around me who assist in the work I do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Remember to breathe and relax. In this field, with all the pressures and responsibilities of credit and collections work, that simple reminder to pause and breathe has been the best advice I've received.
