Her Interview

Ten minutes with Denise

01What do you attribute your success to?

Certainly hard work. I've had incredible mentors in my career that have helped to guide me and to teach me. And knowing that you're always learning. There's always something new out there that you didn't know about, that you can improve yourself on.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Whatever you do, you do it with integrity. There's always going to be choices that you have to make, difficult choices and different paths that you're going to go down. But if you stay with your truth and your integrity, then you will go down the right path.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just buckle up and get ready for the ride. It's getting into business for yourself is not easy, but nothing worth doing is easy. And at the end, the fruits of your labor are always worth it. The only person you have to prove to anybody is you have to prove yourself to yourself.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges being in business for yourself: you don't have that paycheck that just gets delivered every two weeks. You have to work for that check. It's a different mindset with ups and downs. Things going on in the world affect your business, and you have to move and shift with those changes and adjust, pivot.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

For personally, it's about work-life balance. It's important to flip that over and put your family first. Integrity and honesty. If you're honest with people, everything will go in the right direction.
