Her Story

About Denise

I've been writing since I was a child, as long as I can remember, and I've been a published author since around 2006-2008. I just published my fourth book, Grace and Glow, which is a personal account of my journey through emotional burnout and survival mode over the past five years. It's paralleled with a podcast series that a podcast platform picked up and has been doing really well. I recently retired from public relations, public affairs, and communications after serving as a military veteran. I'm also a woman who has been in ministry roles, navigating traditional spaces, which inspired my first book. I'm a mother of two grown children and have been married for many years. Currently, I'm finishing up a degree in psychology and planning to start a practice focused on wellness coaching or potentially opening a full practice. My family and I are also working on real estate as a family business, with the goal of developing homes for other families and eventually moving into transitional housing. My most notable professional achievement is being in the military and making that sacrifice for my country and my future family, which has helped my children finish their degrees.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have to say, being in the military. Just willing to make the sacrifice for this country, and ultimately for my family. The family that I had no idea I would have, because I went in the military as a very young woman after my degree. I wasn't married and had no idea that I would have a family. So the sacrifice that I made for the country and for the future family that I now have, obviously, has helped my children finish their degrees and just my family in general. That would be what I would say is my most notable professional achievement.
