Her Interview

Ten minutes with Deondra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my parents. I'm a military kid, so my dad was in the Army for 27 years. Neither one of them have a college degree. I'm the first generation in my family to get any type of degree. They've showed me what it takes to have hard work, and they push me to this day.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice is to never stop learning and always stay adaptable. You can't be afraid to take on challenges that push you, especially outside of your comfort zone.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

For young women entering my industry, especially because it can be very male-heavy, don't be afraid to ask questions, and don't be intimidated. Be confident in yourself. You're there for a reason.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now is AI. If you use it as a tool, it is amazing, but if you rely too heavy on it, it can impact you. It can be a challenge and it also can be a win, depending on how you utilize it.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Having grace and patience, and understanding that people make mistakes. Give yourself patience and have grace for others as well. Especially being a business partner, having empathy and being supportive.
