Deseret Dawkins

Deseret Dawkins serves as Association Director of Aquatics at YMCA of Greater San Antonio. She oversees aquatics initiatives across multiple sites, managing more than 150 staff in a seven-day operation that often runs from early morning until late evening. Her responsibilities include staff development, safety standards, partnerships, fundraising, program revenue growth, payroll, events, and occasional lifeguarding, while educating the community on water safety and pool benefits. With 26 years in the field, Dawkins began her career as a teenager through a summer job that sparked her passion for aquatics. As a military wife, frequent moves across the country never hindered her progress because of consistent demand for her skills. Her main areas of expertise are programming, events, and onboarding staff at the young professional level. She credits inspiration from colleagues, support, leadership, and guidance for her long tenure. Her educational background includes college supplemented by critical hands-on off-site trainings through various organizations. Dawkins is also a dedicated volunteer and coach for the YMCA and participates in parks and recreation events with city municipalities in the greater San Antonio area.
