Her Story
About Desiree
I started working immediately after graduating high school at 18, beginning at McDonald's where I became a manager within a year. In 2014, I began building my fashion brand while climbing the hospitality ladder. I started as a housekeeper at a resort on Siesta Key in Florida, working my way up to laundry attendant, head laundry attendant, and eventually housekeeping assistant manager. I then moved to IMG Academy where I spent 5 years, starting in housekeeping supervision, then transitioning to front desk agent, and within a year becoming a front desk supervisor. I dealt with prestigious clients, including owners and CEOs of IMG, and even had dinner with some of them because of my personality and authenticity. In February 2025, I transitioned to my current role as a concierge for Go Rentals, where I handle meet and greets for private aviation clients, contracts, and personal phone calls for locations throughout the entire country. On the fashion side, I officially started my LLC, Lux, in 2016. What began as distressing denim has blossomed into custom dresses, gowns, suits, hats, and styling services. I've produced two full-scale fashion shows completely on my own - one in August 2024 and another in April 2025, just 8 months apart. I handle everything from creative direction to model casting, music selection with the DJ, decorator hiring, and bringing in other designers. I'm currently working on my third fashion show for 2027 and expanding into styling clients for events and occasions. My goal is to become a world-renowned stylist and designer while continuing to climb the corporate ladder in hospitality as my Plan B.

Ten minutes with Desiree
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my authenticity, my work ethic, and my passion for everything that I do. My personality has gotten me in rooms that money never would. I've met with people that make millions - at IMG Academy, I dealt with owners and CEOs of IMG and outside of IMG, and I've sat and had dinner with owners of IMG just because of my personality and who I am. The authenticity of who I am has carried me through all the years. When I figured out that I loved hospitality, I ran with it and climbed that ladder, and I'm continuing to climb it as high as I can. When I figured out that I fell in love with fashion, I just climbed that ladder and continued to climb it until I had my first fashion show, until I had my second fashion show. I've never given up, even when it's hard. I like things done a certain kind of way, so in my professional career, I like things done in a timely manner, in a fast manner, and I like it. I'd rather work smarter than harder, so I do everything the correct way and as efficiently as possible.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I'm going to tell you something that my aunt told me: Be the best at whatever field that you're in. Be the best in whatever field that you're in that you love. Find what you love, and be the best at anything that they put you in in that field. Because then, when promotional opportunities come in, you're the first they go to, because you know so many different things. And no position is small. Everything is a learning experience, and just stick to it and be the best at it. And you'll be the first person that they come to every time.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value for me is authenticity. My personality has gotten me in rooms that money never would. I've met with people that make millions - at IMG Academy, I dealt with owners and CEOs of IMG and outside of IMG, some of them have their kids there. I've sat and had dinner with owners of IMG just because of my personality and who I am. I feel like the authenticity of who I am has carried me through all the years, definitely. Just being myself has been everything.
