After graduating high school, she attended cosmetology school before continuing her education toward a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management, expected in April 2027. She is also exploring the possibility of transitioning to a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration focused on women’s studies.
One of Destiney’s proudest accomplishments is choosing perseverance. Despite navigating depression, anxiety, and personal adversity, she remained committed to creating her own path. Her journey reflects resilience, creativity, and the belief that with vision and determination, it is possible to build a life and business aligned with purpose.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Destiney
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, faith, and my willingness to keep going even when life hasn’t gone according to plan. Every setback has taught me something valuable, and instead of letting challenges define me, I’ve used them as motivation to grow.
I’m also deeply committed to continuous learning. Whether it’s expanding my education, developing new creative skills, or building my business, I believe success comes from staying curious and being willing to evolve.
Most importantly, I believe in creating opportunities instead of waiting for them. Building What Is Your Destiney? taught me that success isn’t just about reaching milestones—it’s about having the courage to pursue your vision, serve others through your gifts, and remain authentic throughout the journey.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is: “Create opportunities—don’t wait for them.” That mindset changed how I approach both my career and my business. Instead of waiting for the perfect job, client, or moment, I’ve learned to take initiative, keep building my skills, and put my work into the world.
Another lesson that has stayed with me is that your network and your reputation are just as valuable as your résumé. How you treat people, show up consistently, and follow through on your commitments can open doors that qualifications alone cannot.
I’ve learned that careers aren’t always linear. Every role I’ve had—from mortgage funding to admissions advising to entrepreneurship—has equipped me with skills that continue to shape who I am today. Each experience has reinforced the importance of staying adaptable, trusting the process, and believing that every chapter has a purpose.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My mom always told us comparison is the thief of joy. If you love to do something and it keeps coming back to you, get into it and create art. Put yourself out there. Internally validating ourselves is important because some people won't validate you until they see others clapping. We have to be leaders and post without caring what people think.
