Her Story
About Destiny
I created Momversations podcast four years ago, born directly from my postpartum journey with my second child. I breastfed her exclusively for 28 months - she wouldn't take a bottle, pacifier, nothing. I ordered every bottle off Walmart, Amazon, Target, you name it, and she just wouldn't take it. I tried having her dad feed her, her grandmother feed her, just to give me a break, but she was having none of it. During that time, I experienced postpartum really bad. I completely lost myself. I wasn't loving and attending to myself the way that I knew I needed to, but I know it was because of my mental health and what I was experiencing. So I did some soul searching, I prayed about it, and I birthed Momversations from that, because I felt that other women were probably experiencing some of the same things that I was, but they didn't voice it. Since then, it's been tremendous - it's been therapy for me and for the other mothers that grace their presence on my show. I pride myself on creating that safe space for women to speak about not just motherhood, but their journeys as women, because before I was a mom, I was a woman. Some women don't have kids, but they still come on my show and talk about their journey with their mother or their upbringing and how they felt. I always say that what you go through and what you experience is not just for you, it's for other people also. I balance my podcast work with my full-time job, getting my kids ready in the morning, coming to work, and then focusing on my business and podcast on weekends and after work. I record episodes on the weekend, edit them, and post them. I just hosted my second annual Momversations Mother's Day brunch this past weekend, and it was phenomenal and very needed. I'm so proud of myself for giving women that safe space, because it's a lot to trust someone to tell them your journey. One of my biggest accomplishments is just fostering that space for women to be able to speak, because it's truly needed.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Creating safe spaces for women is at the core of everything I do. I pride myself on fostering an environment where women feel comfortable speaking about their journeys, whether that's motherhood, their relationships with their own mothers, or their personal growth. Trust is huge for me because it's a lot to trust someone to tell them your journey. I believe deeply that what you go through and what you experience is not just for you, it's for other people also. That's why I try to remain consistent and keep the goal that I have in my head at the forefront so I can make sure that I'm achieving that. I also value making memories with my children, taking them to new places, and letting them experience new things. When I get time for myself, I enjoy going to a quiet place, putting my feet in some grass to kind of ground myself and give me a sense of peace.
