Her Story
About Destiny
I am the owner and operator of Little Big Brains Education, which I opened in February of this year. The dream and passion to open my business has been about 5 years in the making. My primary background is in early childhood education, which I started at a fairly young age. Coming from a home with three younger siblings, working with children has been second nature to me, and it led me to opening my own business. I've been in the education field for about 6 years now. A typical day for me involves a lot of operations work. I start every day by texting my staff on the Teams platform with a motivational quote and a good morning introduction, letting them know that we may not get through the whole to-do list today, but at least we have a to-do list and we got some things done. I want my staff to go in with a good headspace, knowing that I'm not looking for them to get everything done, but to strive with some kind of excellence through the day. My main area of expertise is professionalism, and I really focus on showing not only young explorers and learners, but women of all kinds, all natures and all backgrounds, that we are in a growing world but we should always be professional and strive for professionalism. I try to give that aspect to all my peers and guide them with that background of professionalism.

Ten minutes with Destiny
01What do you attribute your success to?
My greatest driver for success is my younger siblings. Growing up, we were always told to find role models, but we were rarely told to be the role model. My goal is to show them that you should embody the very standards, respect, and character you want to see in the world. I strive to model how to bring your own unique background and culture to different professional platforms, teaching them to lead by example.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to never stay somewhere where you are not happy. The professional landscape is vast, featuring countless rapidly growing industries alongside established, time-tested fields. You should always choose a path that brings you genuine satisfaction, rather than settling for an environment that drains your happiness.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
While you may be smart and capable, there is always room for continuous growth. Never shut your ears to learning, and always keep yourself open to new information and perspectives. True development comes from recognizing that your education and self-improvement are ongoing journeys.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I anchor my life and career in three core values: respect, honesty, and kindness. Respect means treating others exactly how you want to be treated in return. Honesty carries immense weight, especially when your actions are backed by good intentions. Finally, kindness is essential because it costs nothing to give, and you never truly know what challenges someone else might be facing behind closed doors.
