Her Interview
Ten minutes with Destiny
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success right now is definitely the Lord, because without Him I wouldn't be able to do any of this.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't jump in when you think you're ready, because if you think you're ready, you're gonna realize you're never gonna be ready. It relates to parenting too.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't worry as much about how things are gonna work out. Things are gonna happen and the majority of the time we don't really have control over what does happen. It's better to just go out and do it and have faith that God's gonna help you through it and that there's nothing to worry about.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include small-town clique mentality where everyone is trying to be a photographer and if you're not from a well-bred family you're pretty much non-existent. Opportunities came from working at the Sentinel with connections to The Journal, one of the top newspapers in the state, which opened many doors.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I don't put anything above my faith or my family. If it's gonna come between a job or my family, at a job I'm replaceable. With my family, I'm not.
