Her Story
About Devika
I’m a UX Designer and Researcher who’s always been drawn to understanding people; how they think, what they need, and why certain experiences feel effortless while others don’t. My path into design started with a love for creativity and problem-solving, and evolved into a deep interest in shaping thoughtful, user-centered digital experiences.
I’ve spent most of my career working in startups and early-stage products, where I often wear multiple hats and help bring clarity to ambiguous spaces. I enjoy being close to the problem talking to users, asking the right questions, and translating insights into designs that are not just intuitive, but meaningful and scalable. I care deeply about building things with intention, not just shipping features.
What defines my work style is a balance of empathy and strategy. I’m collaborative by nature, value open communication, and believe the best ideas emerge when teams feel aligned and supported. I’m someone who takes ownership, follows through, and stays grounded even when things are fast-moving or uncertain.
Outside of work, I find inspiration in small, everyday moments -good coffee, quiet sunsets, and spontaneous bursts of creativity. Those moments shape how I design: with care, curiosity, and a focus on experiences that feel human at their core.

Ten minutes with Devika
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of curiosity, ownership, and intentional growth. I’ve always been deeply curious about people and systems, which pushes me to ask better questions, seek clarity, and truly understand the problems I’m designing for—rather than jumping straight to solutions.
I also take strong ownership of my work. Especially in startup and early-stage environments, I’ve learned to step into ambiguity, take responsibility beyond my role, and follow through until a problem is thoughtfully resolved. That sense of accountability has helped me build trust with teams and stakeholders.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to optimize for learning and alignment, not just titles or speed. Early in my career, I was reminded that growth compounds when you choose environments where you’re challenged, supported, and learning the right things—even if progress looks slower on paper.
That advice helped me make more intentional choices, especially in fast-paced and ambiguous settings. Instead of chasing external validation, I focus on doing meaningful work, building strong fundamentals, and working with people I respect
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Trust that your perspective is valuable, especially early on. You don’t need to have all the answers to contribute meaningfully. Ask questions, share your thinking, and don’t wait for permission to take up space.
Invest in building strong fundamentals and confidence in your craft, but don’t underestimate the power of communication and relationships. Your ability to collaborate, articulate ideas, and advocate for users and for yourself will shape your growth as much as technical skill.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Justice is foundational to how I see the world and how I design. I believe in fairness, equity, and creating systems that don’t exclude or disadvantage people, especially those whose voices are often overlooked.
Empathy guides my approach to UX and to relationships. Whether I’m designing a product or collaborating with others, I prioritize understanding perspectives deeply and designing with care, not assumptions.
Passion fuels my commitment to my craft. I bring genuine energy to the work I do, not out of obligation, but because I care about creating meaningful, thoughtful experiences that make a real difference.
Alongside these, I value integrity, doing the right thing even when it’s harder and curiosity, which keeps me learning, evolving, and open-minded. Finally, I value balance: sustainable ways of working and living that allow creativity, growth, and well-being to coexist.
