About Diahann

Diahann Smith is a marketing professional with over 20 years of experience in the dairy industry. She started her career at the Orlando Sentinel, where she worked for 13 years progressing from intern to marketing manager with a focus on consumer marketing and promoting the newspaper. She was subsequently recruited to develop a Hispanic strategy for the dairy industry in Florida. Her work has included promoting dairy in the Caribbean, at the Florida level, and nationally across the U.S. promoting Hispanic initiatives. Currently, she focuses on building strategic partnerships, developing integrated marketing programs, and creating growth opportunities across the food, retail, food service, and consumer sectors. Smith earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Central Florida and her master's at Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business. She has been a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando for over 20 years, serving in volunteer and board positions, and has served on the boards of the University of Central Florida Alumni Association and the Crummer Graduate School of Business. She was nominated as one of the most influential Hispanics in the community and was a finalist for the Don Quixote Awards Professional of the Year in 2023 in Central Florida.

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from curiosity and optimism. I always want to stay abreast of the latest trends, how things are working and changing. Being creative and able to adapt is very important to me.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Make connections and volunteer. It's all about networking and being able to advance and help advance all those around you to help them grow and learn.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In the marketing arena there has been a huge shift in roles, priorities, budgets, and the influence of AI. Being able to adapt and stay relevant is key no matter the career path.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and integrity are the values I bring from my personal life into my work life.
