About Diana

Diana Johnson is a financial professional, entrepreneur, and founder of Diana Johnson Financial Solutions. She immigrated to the United States from Colombia at the age of 17 with limited resources and no English proficiency. Through persistence and determination, she worked multiple jobs while pursuing her education at Georgia State University, where she earned dual degrees in Business Administration and Marketing. Over time, she built a strong foundation in financial services, beginning her career in corporate roles before transitioning into financial services, protection and retirement planning. Throughout her career in financial services, Diana has specialized in financial education, insurance planning, retirement preparation, and wealth protection strategies. She has held roles with organizations such as Northwestern Mutual and Consolidated Planning, where she helped families, professionals, and business owners strengthen their financial security. A pivotal moment in her journey came when her husband experienced a serious health crisis, deepening her commitment to helping families prepare for life’s uncertainties through insurance solutions such as life insurance with living benefits, disability coverage, and long-term care planning. Today, Diana serves diverse communities across the Atlanta area, with a strong focus on Hispanic and African American families and small business owners. She is the founder of Diana Johnson Financial Solutions, where her mission is to promote financial literacy, protection strategies, and generational wealth building. In addition to her business, she is active in nonprofit and leadership organizations supporting women, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment. She is also expanding her impact through initiatives such as her upcoming podcast Construyendo Sin Manual (Building Without a Manual) and plans to publish a book sharing her personal and professional journey.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Diana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, faith, determination, and a deep commitment to helping others. My personal experiences as an immigrant, entrepreneur, and caregiver have shaped my perspective and strengthened my purpose. These experiences fuel my passion for serving families and providing financial guidance that creates meaningful, lasting impact.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received came from my first financial Professional when I was just 23 or 24 years old. My marketing sales professor at Georgia State brought his financial advisor to speak to our class on the last day, and I was so captivated that I took notes and called him two days later. Even though I told him I wasn't his ideal client because I was just starting out, he gave me 30 minutes on the phone and told me three things that changed my life: invest and open your accounts now, even if it's just $50, $100, or $200, because at my age it would make a big difference. Second, buy a home - don't wait to get married or for everything to be perfect, because rent goes up every year and you'll never see that money again. And third, get life insurance as soon as you can, because the younger and healthier you are, the cheaper it is. I'm so grateful to that person and my professor for bringing him in, because had that not happened, I don't know if I would have started that process or if I would have delayed it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women entering my industry to believe in themselves, stay committed to continuous learning, and not allow setbacks to define their future. I’ve learned that success is built through consistency, perseverance, and the willingness to keep moving forward even in challenging circumstances.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I believe one of the biggest challenges in my field is the lack of financial education available to many families and underserved communities. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunities to raise awareness, improve financial literacy, and empower more individuals to take control of their financial futures through education, guidance, and proper planning.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, service, faith, family, education, compassion, and empowerment, as I believe financial knowledge should be accessible to everyone and I am committed to helping others make informed decisions that improve their quality of life, while also pursuing my passions outside of work which include community outreach, mentoring, personal development, and creating educational content, as I prepare to launch my podcast “Construyendo Sin Manual” (Building Without a Manual) and work toward writing my first book to share lessons learned through both my personal and professional experiences.
